2009-03-07 Sears Carlingwood Visit
This Saturday, 2009-03-07, Brandon my son and I visited the Sears Store at Carlingwood Shopping Centre, 2121 Carling Avenue, Ottawa from 1400-1730h. The store staff set up a booth in the entrance to the mall. Elmer Karell and Ruth Black were especially accomodating and helpful. Brandon handed out business cards, sold chocolate bars, and collected donations while I sweated off a few pounds, okay a couple of pounds.
Some friends accidently visited, such as Simon Parcher, Muriel How, and Lee Hudson of the Toastmasters organization to which I belong and Murph from the 28 (Ottawa) Service Battalion.

We raised about $30 today through chocolate bars. Customers donated an additional $86.40 through “Round Up Your Purchase!” Thank you everyone!
A little boy walked up and said, “I only have five cents. Is that enough?”
I replied, “Is that enough? That is the greatest gift we received all day!”
He walked away smiling. So did I.
